Top 5 local dog walks
Below you'll find our Teams top recommendations for dog walks near Tresooth Cottages, each within a short drive:
Argal and College Reservoir Walks
Just a 2-minute drive from Tresooth, Argal Reservoir offers a peaceful 2km woodland walk around its perimeter, with convenient on-site parking.
For a longer stroll, cross the road at the reservoir's foot to College Reservoir and continue towards Glasney Valley in Penryn, extending your walk to around 4km. Enjoy stunning views of the lakes and spot local wildlife along the way.
The Ferryboat Inn
A must for your Cornwall bucket list, the Ferryboat Inn at Helford Passage is a dog-friendly pub located just 5 minutes’ drive from Tresooth.
Begin with a scenic walk along the South West Coast Path, then treat yourself to a delicious meal with breathtaking views. While the beach directly in front of the inn has summer dog restrictions, nearby Bar Beach welcomes dogs (best at low tide).
After lunch, you can return via the coast path or take the seasonal foot ferry to the other side of the Helford River for more exploring.
Bream Cove (Nansidwell Beach)
Looking for a quieter spot? This hidden gem is a local favourite, especially when Falmouth’s main beaches enforce seasonal dog restrictions.
A short 10–15-minute walk through woodlands will lead you to this tranquil, dog-friendly cove. Park in the nearby lay-by (just past Hotel Meudon), and if you visit during peak season, enjoy a refreshment from the hotel’s pop-up café.
The beach is a mix of rock, shingle, and sand, and if you’re lucky, you might find some sea glass among the shells.
Trebah Gardens
Trebah Gardens is an ideal escape, offering sub-tropical beauty, miles of footpaths and a private beach.
Dogs are more than welcome here (on leads), and with 9,057 dog visitors in 2022 alone, it’s clear this is a top spot for canine companions. You and your dog can enjoy the peaceful gardens, or even dip your paws in the water at the private beach.
Flushing to Mylor Walk
For scenic views and coastal breezes, try the 2.5-mile walk from Flushing to Mylor. Start at Flushing Beach (dog-friendly) and follow the relatively flat path, taking in panoramic views of Carrick Roads and landmarks like St. Anthony Lighthouse.
The walk ends at Mylor Harbour, where you can reward yourself with a meal at Café Mylor or Castaways. Keep an eye out for dolphins or seals along the way!
