Stunning Sennen

We’ve now completed one of the last of our properties to undergo a refurb and our one bedroom Sennen property is ready for your stay.

Here’s what our first guest had to say: “Wow! We got here late this afternoon and are totally blown away. This is such a lush place. Really happy to be here and Sennen has well exceeded our expectations.”

We’ll have new photos to follow shortly, in the meantime, head to our booking page to reserve your stay.

Next up for a makeover is Lamorna, a 3 bedroom cottage in the courtyard, sleeping 6 people and ready for Christmas and New Year bookings.

It’s all new at Newlyn

The team here at Tresooth have been super busy over the past few months giving our courtyard cottage, Newlyn, a brand new look. Taking things back to basics and giving everything a complete makeover, Newlyn is the 3rd refurb we’ve undertaken this year, and we hope you like the changes we’ve made to it.

This cottage sleeps 6 people in 3 bedrooms, and we can configure the beds as superkings or singles, so plenty of flexibility depending on your family or group set-up. For anyone with accessibility needs, Newlyn has level access from the car park and there is an ensuite bedroom on the ground floor. With two further bedrooms upstairs, an ensuite, plus a family bathroom with tub, this property is suitable for everyone (including the dog!).

We’ve had some great feedback already from the first two families to stay in Newlyn, and we hope you’ll like it as much as they did! Find out more on the property listing page .

Since taking over at Tresooth towards the end of 2021, the owners have invested heavily in modernising the cottages to a high standard, which returning guests have really aprpeciated. This just leaves us to complete the final refurbs of Lamorna, Sennen, Porthallow and Minack. We’re almost there!

Top 5: Dog Walks

dog, pet, terrier-3210111.jpg

Are you bringing your beloved canine companion with you to Tresooth Cottages? The majority of our cottages are pet friendly and we love seeing your dogs on site.

Not only does your dog receive a warm welcome from us, they will have their own welcome treat, a water bowl, a dog wash station for after those muddy adventures and hundreds of miles of local footpaths and beaches where they can explore.

Here are our top 5 things we love to do with our pooches in the local area – all within 20 minutes of Tresooth Cottages.

Argal and College Reservoir Walks
A quick 5 minute drive from Tresooth is Argal Reservoir. Traditionally a popular fishing spot, there’s now a 2km woodland walk around the perimeter. With parking on site you can head off round the lake at Argal, and for the more adventurous, there’s a path way across the road from the foot of the reservoir that takes you over to College Reservoir and towards Glasney Valley in Penryn.  This extends the walk to around 4km.

The path gives amazing views of all the lakes great angles, and you can always spot some wildlife hanging out.
The Ferryboat Inn

The must for your Cornwall bucket list. Combine a circular walk on the South West Coast Path with a delicious meal and a beautiful scenic backdrop. This historic and dog friendly pub is located in Helford Passage, just 5 minutes from Tresooth.

You can park in the National Trust Bosveal Car Park then follow a path downwards through woodland to the coast path and head eastwards towards Helford Passage. Although the beach in front of the Ferryboat has a dog ban in the summer, just along a bit further at Bar Beach your dog can run free (best at low tide).  After a lazy lunch, you can head back along the cost path to where you started, passing Trebah and Glendurgan gardens along the way. Or choose to catch the foot ferry across the river (April to October) to the south side of the Helford and pick up another circular route that could include another historic pub, the Shipwrights Arms.

Bream Cove (also known as Nansidwell Beach locally)

This is a hidden gem, but much loved by locals and visitors alike. It’s a dog friendly cove, perfect for when the main resort beaches in nearby Falmouth have restrictions on dogs during the day from April to October.

It’s a beautiful 10-15 minute walk through woodlands from the road down to the beach. Parking is in the lay-by at top of the track down (a few 100 metres on from Hotel Meudon if travelling from Maenporth beach).

During high season Hotel Meudon have a café-horsebox in their grounds just above the beach, with tea/coffee and occasional watersports equipment hire.

The beach is a combination of rock/shingle/sand and if you have a keen eye you can find some beautiful pieces of seaglass hidden amongst the shells.

You then have the option of walking back the way you came or follow the footpath to Maenporth (to the north east) or towards Helford Passage (to the west) where you can do circular walks back to the car.

Trebah Gardens

In 2022 Trebah welcomed 9,057 dogs to their gardens – surely that’s a good indication that they’re a dog friendly place to visit?!

Trebah is a magical sub-tropical garden on the banks of the Helford. It boasts exotic plants, an outdoor ampitheatre and miles of footpaths to wander around in awe – a beautiful escape from the hustle and bustle of the busy beaches to find some calm in nature.

Dogs are welcome in the gardens (on leads) and on Trebah’s private beach – will you and your dog be taking a dip together?

Flushing to Mylor Walk

A great walk of about 2.5 miles with views across the Carrick roads towards the Roseland, this walk starts in the picturesque village of Flushing. Parking is available at the end of Trefusis Road which leads to the dog-friendly Flushing beach.

It’s a relatively flat walk with a couple of stiles to climb over, but perfect for views of Blackrock, St Anthony Lighthouse and Trelissick House (NT) on a clear day. You may even be lucky to see dolphins or seals out in the bay. Follow the footpath past the gig club on the left and continue the whole way around until you reach Mylor harbour, home to Café Mylor and Castaways (both do delicious food).

All info correct at time of writing. Please speak to the Property Management team here at Tresooth if you have any questions or want some other ideas on where to go for a walk with your dog – we have lots of other suggestions!

Trelawney and Kerensa Refurbishment

Things have been moving on apace here at Tresooth over the winter. We have been busy bees completely reconfiguring two of our largest properties, Trelawney which sleeps 8 and Kerensa which sleeps 6.

Trelawney now has a large private courtyard with its own hot tub, perfect for a relaxing evening after a day spent exploring the local area. Kerensa has 3 bedrooms, which will split into doubles or twins, ideal for a family holiday.

Both properties feature log burners, ideal for autumn and winter breaks.

Head over to our individual property pages for these cottages to find out more and to book your stay!

Next up: we’re busy refurbishing Newlyn Cottage at the moment, which leaves Porthallow, Lamorna, Sennen and Minack to go!

A new look for Mousehole and Helford

Throughout the busy summer period the refurb team were still working away quietly, and have now finished another two of the one bed units. Helford and Mousehole are completely renovated and have been given the same great look as Mawnan. Although each unit has the same level of finish they still maintain some of their originality with different decor elements and colours in each.

Helford:

Mousehole:

I’m sure you’ll agree they are looking fab. Next up we’re working on Coverack & Manacles, and will be starting work on Kerensa later this year!

Site and garden updates

We’ve been busy upgrading many areas throughout the whole site during the quiet season, making sure it looks a beautiful as possible for you all over summer.

So far we’ve made improvements to the car park, play area, central courtyard and nature area behind the one bed properties.  I’m sure you’ll agree that the whole site is looking much tidier, and we will continue to make improvements throughout the year.

First round of renovations completed!

The first round of renovations here are now complete, and the site is looking fab. There have been improvements to much of the grounds as well as 4 of the properties being completely renovated. The 3 bedroom Pendeen was the first completion, and has been finished to a really high standard.

You can book Pendeen HERE

Next we have 1 bedroom Mawnan and 2 bedroom St Keverne

Check availability for Mawnan HERE, and St Keverne HERE.

Finally a couple of shots of the 2 bedroom Penpoll, and some pictures of the site renovations as well. We’ve been focussing heavily on keeping the gardens looking tidy and beautiful, have re-laid the path behind the office with fresh gravel, and have moved the pond that was to the front of Penpoll, giving us a much tidier access to the pool area.

Check availability for Penpoll HERE.

As I’m sure you’ll agree the site is coming along really well, and looks even better in the glorious sunshine we’ve been getting, and we’ve just had our second communal hot tub delivered! Our next update should include some pictures of the next finished property, Budock, and some more site updates!
